Frequently Asked Questions
What are the benefits of annual tax planning with a tax professional?
How long will it take to get my refund?
If your return is e-filed, it usually takes up to 21 days for the IRS to process your refund. Direct deposit is the fastest way to get your refund. If you choose a refund by paper check, it will be mailed to the address on your return. If you would like to check the status of your refund, you may check on the IRS website here.
How do I send my tax documents to you?
We use SafeSend as a one-stop shop for gathering client tax documents, distributing sensitive information, and collecting e-signatures for various authorization forms. After you are established as a client, we will send you an invite to our Client Portal via SafeSend. Here, you may securely upload any documents that we might need to file your tax return.
How long will it take to prepare my tax return?
We need at least six weeks to prepare and review a tax return before it is ready for you to sign. Preparation time depends on the complexity of the return, your timeline in getting us any additional information we request, and the time of year. February through April and August through October are our busiest times of the year.

Is every nonprofit organization required to have an audit?
In the state of Washington, charitable organizations with more than three million in annual gross revenue, averaged over three preceding years, are required to obtain an independent financial statement audit. Not-for-profit organizations may also be required to obtain an audit as a result of requirements in your bylaws, grant terms, debt covenants, or other conditions imposed by a third party.
What is the difference between an audit and a review?
An audit provides reasonable assurance that the financial statements do not contain any material misstatements. This is achieved through inquiries of management, analytical procedures, and substantive tests of transactions on a sample basis. A review provides limited assurance that material changes are not needed for the financial statements to be in accordance with generally accepted accounted principles (GAAP) or other applicable basis of accounting. Review engagements primarily involve inquiries of management and analytical procedures applied to management’s financial data.
What is a Single Audit and who is required to undergo one?
A Single Audit is an audit of compliance with major federal award program requirements and with certain provisions of laws, regulations, contracts, and grant agreements. Single Audits are required for organizations that expend $750,000 or more of federal award funds during their fiscal year. For fiscal years ending September 30, 2025, and later, this threshold increases to $1,000,000.
Who is required to undergo an employee benefit audit?
How can CAS benefit my business?
CAS offers several benefits, such as cost savings by eliminating the need to hire full-time accounting staff, access to specialized expertise, improved financial reporting and compliance, and the ability to focus on growing your business rather than managing day-to-day accounting tasks.
What accounting software does GO typically use for CAS?
Common accounting software platforms used includes QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks, Bill.com, and multiple payroll platforms (ADP, Paychex, Gusto, Paycom).
What should I expect from the GO CAS department in terms of reporting and communication?
At GO, we customize financial reporting to meet your specific needs, typically delivering reports between the 15th and 20th of each month. We also schedule regular communication, either monthly or quarterly, to review financial performance, address any concerns, and plan for future goals. Additionally, our team is committed to responding to emails within one business day.
